Environmental Justice & Climate Protection Conference Branding
Dogwood Alliance

The branding for Dogwood Alliance’s annual conference needed to be distinct but not too far from the feel of its organizational brand.
Design a primary mark and choose a palette with a contemporary aesthetic that won’t “age” too quickly.
The new logo and color scheme for the Environmental Justice & Climate Protection conference is a unique brand that differentiates it from DA’s other events while establishing a recognizable identity that attendees reconnect with yearly.
AWARD RECOGNITIONS
Distinct Event Mark
Rather than a sub-mark of the organization’s branding, we developed a wholly separate logo to give it flexibility and so it can reflect a distinct tone of the event that is different from other events produced by the organization.
Reinforced Event Brand Awareness
Consistent use of the new event mark builds familiarity and trust, which can enhance attendance and engagement at each subsequent conference. It also strengthens the event’s reputation, making it easier to market and communicate its purpose.
What is brand identity development?
Brand identity development is the process of figuring out how a brand looks and feels based on its values, mission and personality.
It involves stakeholder input—community members, staff, and leaders—and includes visual elements like the logo, color palette, typography, imagery, and overall style. Together, these pieces make the brand look consistent and easy to recognize everywhere it’s used.

How do I choose the right brand strategy consultant for my business?
Choosing the right brand strategy consultant is an important part of shaping your brand’s image and reputation. Take time to look at a potential consultant or agency’s past work by looking at their portfolio. Then, set up an initial meeting to ask questions and determine if their brand strategy process fits your needs, values, budget, and goals.
Why is brand identity important?
A strong brand identity makes you stand out from others, makes it easy for people to recognize you, and builds trust. It shows what you stand for, what you’re trying to do, and how you’re going about that in a way that connects with your community.
